Technical Manager – Food

Hartley People are seeking a highly skilled Technical Manager to join our clients team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of our food manufacturing processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and maintaining high-quality products. They will play a pivotal role in managing client relationships and interacting with auditors to uphold our reputation for excellence and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the technical team in ensuring the highest standards of product quality, safety, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  2. Develop and implement quality assurance procedures to continuously improve processes and product quality.
  3. Act as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing technical inquiries, concerns, and providing exceptional customer service.
  4. Coordinate and conduct audits to ensure adherence to internal quality standards and external regulatory requirements.
  5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, R&D, and supply chain to drive process improvements and resolve technical issues.
  6. Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and best practices to proactively identify opportunities for improvement and risk mitigation.
  7. Train and mentor staff on quality control procedures, food safety regulations, and compliance requirements.
  8. Prepare and present technical reports, documentation, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or related field. A qualification in quality management is essential.
  2. Proven experience in a technical or quality management role within the food manufacturing industry.
  3. Strong understanding of food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, GMP, ISO standards) and quality management systems.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, auditors, and cross-functional teams.
  5. Demonstrated leadership abilities with a track record of driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  6. Detail-oriented mindset with analytical skills to identify and resolve technical challenges.
  7. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a focus on quality and compliance.
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and quality management software is desirable.
