Production Shift Manager

Irish Pride Fine Foods Bakery Taghmon is looking to for a Production Shift Manager to support the team in managing all production activities on site.

Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for all production activities on their shifts. This will involve understanding the operation and effectively supporting and developing the team of Supervisors in place to manage effectively. The successful candidate will also be responsible for trouble-shooting any problems that can be dealt with locally and escalating, if necessary, any urgent issues that jeopardise production. Relevant shifts are 3pm to 11pm and 11pm to 7am 5 days over 7.

This is a new role and perfect for an experienced production specialist who is looking to develop their skills in a growing, well-structured environment.

1. Support the General Manager in managing the day-to-day operations.

2. Ensure our product is produced to specification – meeting planned targets and Quality / Customer requirements.

3. Manage and control packaging, ingredients etc to ensure sufficient stocks are controlled for the various SKU’s produced in the plant.

4. Budget management and achievement of same while reporting on variances (labour, materials and efficiency)

• Manage the activities of the production supervisors and liaise with department managers.
• Contribute to recruitment, planning and training of production operators in accordance with shift requirements and operational goals.
• Manage people issues including absenteeism, return to work interviews, performance, development etc. in consultation with HR.
• Develop and maintain safety programs including appropriate training, communication sessions and emergency drills fulfilling all SMS requirements and ensuring the safety of all personnel.
• Ensuring hygiene and housekeeping standards are at optimum levels.
• Lead projects when required to improve operational performance.

Requirements:

1. Proven ability to lead, coach and motivate in a fast-paced, production-focused setting.

2. Minimum of 5 years in a similar position in an industry with high volume product.

3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
