Field Service Technician – Solar PV
Wexford-based | Multi-site | Full-time | €45k–€51k base + 6% bonus
Sector: Renewable Energy | Solar PV
A hands-on, site-based O&M role keeping solar PV sites running at full output. You’ll diagnose faults, carry out planned and reactive maintenance, and support commissioning on new sites. When production goes down, you’ll be the one getting it back up.
You don’t need to be a qualified electrician. If you’ve worked on a solar site, come from wind, or are a maintenance technician from a manufacturing background, you’ll get plenty of training on the ground. What matters is that you’re practical, take ownership, and are comfortable working as part of a two-person team across multiple sites.
What the role involves
• On-site and remote fault diagnosis and troubleshooting
• Planned and reactive maintenance across solar PV sites
• Supporting commissioning and start-up on new sites
• On-site technical assessments and inspections
• SCADA monitoring and remote system operation
• Writing technical reports to support performance and claims
• Helping improve maintenance processes and reliability
• Sharing best practice across the operations team
Who we’re looking for
• Solar PV site experience is ideal
• Wind turbine technicians looking to move into solar will also be strong candidates
• Maintenance technicians from manufacturing, or anyone with an electrical, electronics or automation background, are also very welcome
• A trade qualification is an advantage but not essential
What you’ll need
• Hands-on experience finding and fixing faults on equipment, whether on a site, in a plant or on a production line
• Full Irish or EU driving licence (essential)
• Valid Safe Pass, or willingness to get one
• Comfortable working outdoors on active sites in all weather
• Good written English for site reports
• SCADA or remote monitoring experience is a bonus, not a must
What’s on offer
• €45,000–€51,000 base salary depending on experience
• Annual performance bonus with a 6% target, paid in April
• 22 days annual leave plus Good Friday and Christmas Eve, rising to 24 days after 3 years’ service
• Private medical insurance through the Irish Life Health Horizon Plan, covering you, your partner and all dependent children, plus an Employee Assistance Programme
• Company pension at 3% employee and 3% employer, rising to 5% each from January 2027
• Life assurance at 4x annual basic salary
• Overtime at 1.5x on weekdays and Saturdays, and double time on Sundays and public holidays
• Rotational on-call allowance
• Company vehicle provided (technicians work in pairs and share a vehicle)
• Expenses reimbursed in line with company policy
• TaxSaver Commuter Scheme and Bike to Work Scheme
• Company laptop and mobile phone where required
• Funded learning and development after probation
Ready to move into renewables?
If you’ve spent your career keeping equipment running and want to build a long-term career in solar, this is a good way in.
