Are you a recent or upcoming Mechanical, Sustainability, Energy or Building Services Engineering graduate looking to start your career in the construction and sustainability sector?
Building Envelope Technologies (BET) is seeking an ambitious Graduate Mechanical / Sustainability Engineer to join our growing team in Ferns, Co. Wexford.
This graduate role offers the opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience across sustainability, energy efficiency, building performance and building compliance, working on a diverse range of construction projects throughout Ireland.
No previous industry experience is required. Full training, mentoring and ongoing professional development will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity to develop your technical skills and build a long-term engineering career with BET.
Requirements
Suitable qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Sustainability Engineering, Energy Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
Knowledge of building energy performance and sustainability principles.
Knowledge of TGD Part L & Part F (NZEB) would be advantageous.
Knowledge of thermal assessment or testing methods would be desirable but is not essential.
Strong analytical, computational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to produce clear technical documentation.
Role & Responsibilities
Supporting a range of sustainability, energy efficiency and building performance projects.
Carrying out assessments and calculations relating to building energy performance and compliance.
Advising clients on Building Regulations and compliance, particularly TGD Part L & Part F (NZEB).
Reviewing architectural and engineering drawings, specifications and technical information.
Preparing technical drawings for use in calculations, assessments and reports.
Supporting SEAI Grant Applications and energy upgrade projects.
Assisting with building energy assessments and identifying opportunities to improve energy performance.
Contributing to low-energy and low-carbon building design strategies.
Liaising with clients, architects, engineers, contractors and other members of the project team.
Preparing clear technical reports and presenting findings and recommendations to clients.
Supporting site surveys and inspections where required.
Working alongside BET’s wider technical teams across airtightness, ventilation, acoustics, sustainability and building performance testing.
Assisting with thermal assessments and analysis where required.
Keeping up to date with relevant Building Regulations, SEAI requirements, industry standards and developments in sustainable construction.
The role would suit an ambitious junior or graduate engineer with a suitable background and an interest in sustainability, energy efficiency and building performance. It may also suit somebody currently working within the construction industry who is looking to retrain and develop a career within sustainability and building performance.
