GIS Technician

The GIS Technician will be assigned to the Planning Department, and will report to the Senior Planner or their appointed representative.

Key duties of the post will include, but are not limited to:

Creation, updating and maintenance of Planning GIS databases specific to the preparation, monitoring and review of the Development Plan and local area plans.

Graphic production of a wide range of maps and diagrams to be published as part of the Development Plan and local area plans (e.g., land use zoning, spatially defined objectives, infrastructural networks etc.)

Creation, updating and maintenance of the planning registers; planning applications, exempted developments, part 8 and 9 developments, by ensuring that data entry is in the correct format.

Research and preparation of charts, diagrams, and maps for publications by Wexford County Council e.g. URDF / RRDF applications.

Assist with the implementation of both Internal and External MapViewers.

Maintain and update, on an ongoing basis, existing mapping and GIS datasets as required.

Transform GIS Data into different formats and re-project using FME.
